Our story
Pardeep and Kawaljit Dhillon spent over twenty years as teachers in India before either of them ever sat in a driving school car. Pardeep was the one who'd stay late for the students who needed an extra hour. Kawaljit was the one parents asked for when their kid was scared of the subject. Teaching wasn't a job. It was what they did, and they were good at it.
When the family moved to Canada, they did what most newcomer families do at first: took whatever work they could find. A few years in, they decided to retrain instead of settle. Both got their MTO instructor certifications and spent the next few years working for other driving schools around Kitchener-Waterloo, building their hours and learning the local routes inside out.
Four years ago, they founded KWC Drivers in Kitchener.
It worked out. Most of what made them good in a classroom carried over to a car. Breaking a hard skill into smaller pieces. Knowing when a student is stuck and needs the explanation a different way. The cars are red now instead of chalkboards, but the job is the same.
Why this work matters to us
Most of our students are doing something hard. New drivers, often teenagers, are about to start operating a two-tonne vehicle in real traffic. Newcomers are relearning rules they thought they knew, in a new climate, sometimes in a third language. People coming back to driving after years away are usually nervous and a little embarrassed about it.
We get that. We try to teach the way we'd want our own kids taught: patiently, with honest feedback, and with the assumption that you'll get there if we both do the work.
That's why we keep things small on purpose. KWC isn't a thirty-car fleet with a call centre. It's two instructors, Pardeep and Kawaljit, husband and wife, and we run every part of the business ourselves. When you book a package you get one of us for every lesson, week after week. By the fourth lesson we know how you actually drive and what to focus on next.
The KW community
Kitchener-Waterloo has been our home for years. We pick up students all over the region, from student housing in Uptown Waterloo to families in Pioneer Park to working professionals in Doon. A lot of our bookings come from someone's older sister, cousin, or coworker who took lessons with us a year or two earlier. That's the part of this work we like the most.
We're also part of the South Asian community here, and we teach in English, Punjabi, and Hindi. If you'd be more comfortable getting instructions in Punjabi or Hindi, just let us know when you book.
What we promise you
- The same instructor every lesson. No rotations, no surprises, no starting over.
- Honest pricing with HST included at checkout. The number on the package card is the number you pay.
- MTO-approved BDE certification that earns you the eight-month early G2 eligibility and qualifies you for insurance discounts.
- One-attempt focus. We prep you for your test, on your route, in the car you'll actually drive on test day.
Where we are now
Four years in, we've helped over six hundred and fifty drivers earn their G2 or G licence. Our Google reviews, 450+ and counting, mention Pardeep and Kawaljit by their first names because that's actually who you'll meet.
We're still small, still family-run, and still doing the work we love.
If you're thinking about lessons, come say hi. We'd love to teach you.
