Beginner Driver Education
Earn the certificate that lets you take your G2 road test four months sooner and qualify for car insurance discounts. Two MTO-approved packages, both with 20 hours online + 10 hours in-car, and friendly instructors who know every Kitchener-Waterloo DriveTest route.
BDE isn't just a course — it's a Ministry-recognized credential that pays you back twice: once with a faster path to your G2, and again every time your insurer renews.
Without BDE you wait 12 months after your G1 to take the G2 road test. With your MTO-approved BDE certificate on file, you can take it after 8.
BDE graduates qualify for car insurance discounts with most major Ontario insurers. Many students save more than the cost of the course in the first year alone.
Your BDE completion is reported directly to the Ministry of Transportation and goes on your driver's licence record. No paperwork to chase, no forms for your insurer.
Self-paced online theory you can do on your phone, plus 10 hours of in-car training with a licensed instructor in real Kitchener-Waterloo traffic.
We come to your door — home, school, or apartment — across Kitchener and Waterloo. No bus rides, no wasted time.
Choose BDE Complete and you take your G2 road test in our car — no scrambling for a vehicle, no inspection surprises, no rental fee.
Both packages include the same MTO-approved course, certificate, online portal, and 10 hours of in-car training. BDE Complete adds our car for your G2 road test — that's the only difference.

BDE Essentials + a car for your G2 road test
After you book, you get instant access to the 20-hour online course on our BDE learning platform. Self-paced, mobile-friendly, and built directly to the Ontario MTO curriculum. Most students finish it in 2–3 weeks of light evening study.
Pick up and drop-off are free anywhere in Kitchener and Waterloo. We work around school, jobs, and parent schedules. Lessons run as 1- or 2-hour blocks depending on what you prefer.
Once you've finished both portions, we report your completion to the MTO. The certificate goes on your driver licence record and your G2 road test eligibility unlocks at 8 months instead of 12 — automatically.
Book your G2 road test with DriveTest. If you went with BDE Complete, you take it in our car. After you pass, mention your BDE certificate when you set up insurance. Most major Ontario insurers offer a discount for graduates.
A Beginner Driver Education course is an MTO-approved program that includes 20 hours of online instruction plus at least 10 hours of in-car lessons. Completing a BDE course earns you a certificate that can reduce your G2 wait time and may qualify you for insurance discounts.
PermalinkOnly our Certificate (BDE) packages come with the MTO course completion certificate. G2, G, and individual lesson packages do not issue a certificate — they are focused on test preparation and practice.
PermalinkYes. Students must complete the online portion of their course before they can begin in-car lessons. This ensures you have a solid understanding of road rules and driving theory before getting behind the wheel.
PermalinkIf you fall behind on your online coursework, reach out to us and we can help you get back on track. All online classes must be completed before you can begin your in-car training.
PermalinkIn-car lessons are typically 1 to 2 hours long, depending on the package and scheduling. We recommend 1-hour lessons for new drivers to avoid fatigue.
PermalinkYes. At checkout, choose "Pay by e-transfer" and you will receive instructions by email. You can also pay by credit/debit card or cash (in person at your first lesson).
