Waterloo students typically test at the Kitchener DriveTest Centre. We schedule lessons through the streets the examiner will likely route you down — Weber, Erb, Bridgeport, and the trickier merges off University Avenue.

A Beginner Driver Education course is an MTO-approved program that includes 20 hours of online instruction plus at least 10 hours of in-car lessons. Completing a BDE course earns you a certificate that can reduce your G2 wait time and may qualify you for insurance discounts.
PermalinkOnly our Certificate (BDE) packages come with the MTO course completion certificate. G2, G, and individual lesson packages do not issue a certificate — they are focused on test preparation and practice.
PermalinkYou can start the Beginner Driver Education course as soon as you hold a valid Ontario G1 licence, which you can earn at age 16 after passing the written knowledge test at any DriveTest centre (Kitchener's is on Ottawa Street North). There is no upper age limit. We regularly teach adult learners and newcomers to Canada. If you don't have your G1 yet, we can recommend free study resources to help you pass on your first try, then enrol you once you do.
PermalinkYou can purchase and start the 20-hour online portion of our BDE course before you have your G1, but in-car lessons can only begin once your G1 is in hand. That's an MTO requirement. Many students use the wait time to finish the online modules so they can hit the road as soon as they pass the written test. If you're booking only G2 or G road-test prep, you'll need the matching licence class before your first lesson.
PermalinkMost major Ontario insurers treat a graduate of an MTO-approved BDE course as if they have three years of driving experience, which typically translates to a 10–25% premium reduction depending on the company. The exact discount varies by insurer, vehicle, and driver profile, so we recommend asking your broker for a quote both with and without the certificate. KWC Drivers is fully MTO-approved, and your completion is reported directly to the Ministry. No paperwork on your end.

I PASSED MY G ROAD TEST! 🎉🎉 All thanks to best and my favourite instructor Kawaljit Dhillon, she was very patient, kind and supportive all through lessons and taught me all safe driving skills and rules. Passed in my first attempt because of her safe strict driving advices, encouragement and giving safety measures in all road, traffic conditions. I suggest taking as many classes with her and practice cause driving comes with practice and experience, she guides through all. Thank you so much Mam for teaching me safe driving and I promise to remember all your advices and tips! 🥹🙏🏻

I had Kawaljit as my driver instructor and i highly recommend her. She was very patient and kind and I was able to learn a lot from her very quickly, she prepared me for the g2 test perfectly and was the reason I passed.

I’m very thankful to Kawaljit Dhillon for helping me pass both my G2 and full G tests. She is professional, patient, and really knows her job well. She is an amazing instructor encouraging me to understand & learn in a positive way. I took only 4 classes with her before my G test. I got my G at my first chance. I took G2 also with her. I did both at Kitchener. I never had drive a car back home before my G2. I was anxious & nervous but she encouraged me & appreciated me when I do each lesson with FINE FEEDBACK with how to focus & what to focus.
